Today is a sad day. My uncle-turned-grandpa Cecil died last night. The one word that comes to mind when I think of him is HAPPY. He was always laughing, always happy. And, because of that, you couldn't help but feel the same way in his presence. Last summer we were planning a trip back to Ohio. On a whim, we ended up getting a new puppy so we had to cancel our trip. Do you know what Cecil's comment was to our trip-cancellation? In his booming voice he said, "Don't you know we're walking on banana peels here?" (followed by his indescribable, hilarious laugh)
I loved that man. I remember when I was a little girl and he would scoop me up in his huge arms and laugh that indescribable laugh. He will be missed and always remembered. I'm thankful that God allowed him to live such a long and healthy life. I'm thankful that he was able to bring utter joy to my Grandma the last 2 years of his life. I'm better for having known him.
